WASTE WATER TREATMENT

Waste water treatment describes preparing water no longer needed or suitable for its most recent use for return to the water cycle with minimal environmental issues. Wastewater treatment is distinguished from water treatment by a general focus on disposal rather than use, although reuse is also possible, called water reclamation. Water reclamation implies avoidance of disposal by use of treated wastewater for various purposes. Treatment means removing impurities from water being treated; and some methods of treatment are applicable to both water and wastewater. FWT products can be used in the following areas with respect to the wastewater treatment techniques:

COOLING TOWERS

Cooling water circuits can be found in a range of industries all over the world. Normally circulatory cooling conditioned water is used where fresh water is not possible. Cooling water consumption is minimized and the whole system must be protected from corrosion, sediment and growth of biological organisms, which can lead to serious diseases such as Legionella: prevention has become the prime concern. Blow down operations prevents scaling and corrosion. Chemically conditioning of the make-up water by adding biocides thus disinfecting the water from germs and the growth of algae or biological organisms.

FERTIRRIGATION AND GREENHOUSES

Fertigation is defined as the application of nutrients through an irrigation system, a contraction of fertilization and irrigation.
Today, we routinely inject fertilizer solutions and suspensions into irrigation systems via calibrated injection pumps that insure precision over both space and time. This technique can reduce fertilizer application costs by eliminating an operation. It may also improve nutrient efficiency by applying them closer to where the plant needs them. Fertigation has increased dramatically in the past 15 years, particularly for sprinkler and drip systems. For drip systems, the expansion is mostly in horticultural and high value crops. In agricultural areas with declining water supplies, drip systems have also increased.
The need for irrigation is the main factor in fertigation because the irrigation system is primarily installed to provide water. The opportunity to fertigate is an added benefit.
